It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that a song with the name London in it by the most successful British artist in recent memory has been able to control the singles chart in the U.K. for over a month now. Ed Sheeran and Stormzy’s collaborative tune “Take Me Back to London” holds at No. 1 for a fifth consecutive frame, and it may continue to lead for weeks to come, as it doesn’t appear as if the public is done with it yet.
Up to the passenger seat is rising hip-hop musician Aitch, who has been trying to take the top spot for a few frames now with his breakout smash “Taste (Make It Shake),” though so far he hasn’t been able to beat back Sheeran and Stormzy.
Behind him, Kygo and Whitney Houston's “Higher Love” returns to No. 3. That track also attempted to lift to the peak position, but Sheeran wouldn't step aside. After those pieces of music comes AJ Tracey’s first real hit “Ladbroke Grove” at No. 4.
New to the top 10 at No. 5 is “Ride It” by Regard. The Kosovan DJ reworked a track by pop singer Jay Sean also called “Ride It” and made it is own, and the British people have now sent it into the highest tier on the songs ranking. “Ride It” is Regard’s first top 10 in the U.K.
Steady in sixth place is “Sorry” by fellow new electronic talent Joel Corry.
Australian pop singer-songwriter Tones and I jumps into the region for the first time in her career with “Dance Monkey,” an undeniably catchy cut that is currently taking over the world. This frame, Tones and I (real name Toni Watson) earns her first appearance inside the top 10 as the track dances from No. 14 to No. 7.
